Dr Olga Oikonomidou from the Cancer Research UK Edinburgh Centre has been named for the second time as one of the finalists of the Scottish Women’s Awards: August 2019 Image Dr Olga Oikonomidou - Consultant Medical Oncologist and Clinical Senior Lecturer in Breast Oncology Congratulations to Dr Olga Oikonomidou, who has been selected as a finalist of the Scottish Women’s Awards 2019 in the “Services to Medicine” category. She was also a finalist during 2018 awards.Scottish Women’s Awards have been established to celebrate female role models and to acknowledge their achievements that make Scotland a greater place to live in. Dr Oikonomidou is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Clinical Senior Lecturer in Breast Oncology at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre in the Western General Hospital and the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Edinburgh Centre at the University of Edinburgh. She splits her time between running a very busy breast oncology practice in the Western General Hospital and conducting important translational studies at the CRUK Edinburgh Centre where she is a Principal Investigator. Her team of 8 people works at the interface between laboratory-based and clinic-based research in breast cancer. She is also involved in clinical trials aiming to test new promising therapeutics.The black-tie Scottish Women’s Awards 2019 event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow, on Wednesday, 28th of August 2019.
