The Institute’s annual Health and Wellbeing Week took place in May, with staff and students being encouraged to take time out of their day to focus on improving their health and wellbeing: May 2018 The IGMM Health and Wellbeing programme has grown annually. The breadth of events reflects the Institute’s commitment to a working environment that values the wellbeing of everyone that deliver our exceptional research. We are delighted with the support across the week. IGMM Health and Wellbeing Committee Health and Wellbeing week videoThe varied programme of events focused on both physical and mental wellbeing and included:Taster sessions in mindfulness and yogaProject Soothe photography exhibition, sharing ideas on how to self-soothe at times of distressDrop in advice sessions, including with an NHS nurse, the University’s Occupational Health and Staff Disability Service teams and the Scottish Association for Mental HealthOpportunities to chat to members of the University’s Staff PRIDE Network about their activities and the support on offer to people who self-identify as part of LGBT+ communitiesFitness challenges with the University’s Sports and Exercise teamLed walks with the IGMM Walking GroupBeginner and advanced level runs organised by the IGMM’s JogScotland group – a group set up as the direct result of a previous IGMM Health and Wellbeing Week Image Health & Wellbeing Week 2018 The week concluded with a fun IGMM Sports Day and Family Picnic in the local park, organised by the IGMM Wellbeing Group and the IGMM Social Committee in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh’s Sports & Exercise team.The IGMM, and the wider University, is committed to developing working environments and practices that help maintain and improve staff and student mental and physical health.The University’s commitment to enhancing health and wellbeing in the workplace has been recognised with a Gold Healthy Working Lives Award.Useful LinksHealth and Wellbeing at the IGMM Tags 2018 Publication date 29 May, 2018
