She is one of 30 new international members who are non-voting members of the Academy with citizenship outside the United States.

The newly elected researchers bring the total number of active members to 2,662 and the total number of international members to 556.

It is truly an honour to be elected as an international member to the National Academy of Sciences by my peers in the USA. I look forward to being able to contribute to the activities of this important institution in supporting and enriching science across the globe.

This is an incredible and very well deserved achievement.

The National Academy of Sciences is a private, nonprofit institution established under a congressional charter signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. It recognises achievements in science by election to membership and - alongside the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Medicine - provides science, engineering and health policy advice to the federal government and other organisations in the USA.
