Data Storage, Transfer and Governance Disclaimer

We support secure and responsible data handling throughout the analysis process, in accordance with applicable institutional and regulatory requirements. Researchers remain responsible for long-term data storage, backups and ensuring appropriate approvals and data governance arrangements are in place.

The IGC Bioinformatics service is an analysis service and should not be considered a long-term data storage, backup or archiving facility.

Project investigators or clients are responsible for:

  • Long-term storage of raw sequencing data and processed outputs
  • Maintaining appropriate backups of project data
  • Ensuring that data transfer and storage comply with ethical, institutional, funder and legal requirements
  • Providing complete and accurate sample metadata
  • Ensuring that human, clinical or sensitive data are transferred only through approved routes

Temporary storage required for active analysis will be agreed during project scoping. Very large datasets, including WGS, long-read sequencing, single-cell, spatial and multi-omics projects, may require additional storage or compute resources and may incur extra charges.

Sensitive or identifiable human genomic data must not be transferred until appropriate approvals, data sharing agreements and governance arrangements are in place.
